INCOMING : Nov’ 19
We all know that the North is full of talent, but sometimes it’s difficult keeping up with every new artist breaking through. We’ll make sure to keep you aware of all the best new artists that are making a name for themselves. These are the artists you should definitely get to know!
The Manchester singer started releasing music in 2018, with her angsty and yet dreamy compositions earning her a songwriting award in her hometown. After being played on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing, her debut single ‘Average Disguise’ started to build momentum for the singer, who eventually signed to Liverpool-based label Modern Sky. In 2019, Ozard has been played on BBC Radio 1, released her ‘Growing Pains’ EP and will be playing at Off The Record Festival in Manchester on November 15th. Check out the video for ‘Heartbreak Radio’.
The Manchester collective don’t just create great music, they invite us to join their own universe of futuristic, psychedelic punk. Each track and video is meticulously put together to create an intergalactic aesthetic. They are an ever-changing ensemble of musicians led by Ben Robinson, songwriter and bass player, who is already an established industry figure – having founded Kendal Calling and Bluedot Festival. Since releasing debut single ‘Raise The Dawn’, Hello Cosmos have rocketed (space pun intended) and have built on their early momentum with several new singles in 2019. Give their ‘Run For President’ video a watch!
Hot Minute
This trio from Manchester are about to make a lot of noise. New single ‘Hell Is Empty’ is a piece of majestic synth-pop, with the track’s darker themes balanced out by the uplifting vocals and ear for a pop chorus. Given that their first (and excellent) single ‘Magic’ was only released earlier in 2019, these are really confident tracks from the relatively new group. Expect Hot Minute to have an incredible 2020.
Liverpool band The Sway only released their debut single ‘Step Right’ last month but are already one of the most exciting indie prospects from 2019. The track exudes a confidence that seems unbelievable given it is their first proper release. Everything from the mature songwriting to the beautiful piano intro suggest that The Sway are about to make a massive impact. They’ll be supporting fellow Liverpudlians The Cheap Thrills on November 2nd at O2 Academy Liverpool. If you can’t catch them there, keep an eye out for these five.
Previously part of pop-folk duo ‘Felka’, the Leeds singer Rosie Blofeld has started releasing her own music. She’s now the central character in her wonderfully imagined soundscapes, with her creative talent demonstrated by her new single ‘Inexhaustible Love’. The track is epic, with an incredible video which perfectly encapsulates the song itself. It is the first single taken from her upcoming EP ‘The Angelic Manoeuvre’. Make sure you watch the video for ‘Inexhaustible Love’.
The mysterious Oliver Asadi from Leeds has built a following based on his intriguing persona. Asadi is someone you’d find difficult to put into a box. He’s a rapper, producer, singer, musician, filmmaker and photographer. Simply put – he’s an artist. His musical style might best be described as wavey and progressive hip-hop, but even those terms seem too specific for him. Asadi hasn’t just built a dedicated fan-base but has also attracted the attention of big names from the States, including SpaceGhostPurrp, A$AP Mob and most recently Kevin Abstract (Brockhampton), who appears on latest single ‘Shatter Me’.
