Single Review: Broke Casino - Tell Me (I Want You)
After over a year of lockdown and no new releases, Broke Casino has broken back into the music scene with their new single ‘Tell Me (I Want You)’. The 5-piece indie rock band's new track is their 3rd single and offers an entirely new sound for the group as well as an eccentric take on the alt-indie genre as a whole. After being signed by Manchester-based independent record producers 42s Records, to whom took a great interest in the song, ‘Tell Me (I Want You)’ may well pave way for Broken Casino's breakthrough into the industry.
Discussing the track on Lymm radio, frontman Ralph discussed how it ‘emerged from a culmination of a year being indoors’ mostly intending to create a dance track, in timing with the reopening of clubs and venues, which will get everyone on their feet, Undoubtedly this has been effectuated and the lively and light-hearted track would create a sensational atmosphere to watch live.
Lyrically, there is nothing particularly expert about the song and it mostly consists of the repetition of the main hook and title Tell Me (I Want You), and generally speaking, abides by the usual poetry of an indie song. With that being said, the true genius of the song lies within the non-formulaic production which is somewhat of a melodic genius. Consisting of a purposeful fusion of soul, rhythm, pop, and rap beat is it apparent the band has been influenced by a variety of music styles allowing an alt-indie track with a feel-good aura.
The track was streamed 3000 times in the first 3 days and the band has a sold-out gig at ‘Off the Square Manchester’ this forthcoming Saturday! Broke Casino has an insane amount of potential and ‘Tell Me (I Want You)’ deserves to skyrocket into the charts as a 2021 summer anthem.
