Single Review: Dalmas - Stay
Manchester-based band Dalmas are a rock group ready to kick start your summer with their new track ‘Stay’, a track that feels inspired by late 90’s American indie rock and Britpop - a meld of Blur combined with All Time Low.
‘Stay’ tricks the senses, tricking you into thinking you’re in for 3 minutes of heavy bass and cacophonous bars, when that is only half true. Midway through the track, the drum brushes set in and you’re hit with the sensation of standing at the edge of a cliff, and your ears take a second to adjust to the pulled-back bridge. This section of the song, at around 2 minutes in, feels like you have switched over to a different song by accident.
Dalmas have had a great few years since their union began in 2018, releasing their first album earlier this year. They have also been recognised nationally, grabbing a spot on the acclaimed 6Music BBC Introducing show; Chris Hawkins gave them a rave review.
Each track on their new album, and all those released before, have a different edge giving listeners surprises round every corner, and it is certain that the future will be electrifying for these up-and-comers.
