Single Review: ENGINE - Solitary Moods

The new single by Leeds based electronic duo ENGINE ‘Solitary Moods’ is an ethereal and almost haunting reflection on the world we live in now. The percussion, coupled with the psychedelic guitars in the second half of the sound create an ominous, yet beautiful atmosphere, establishing– as the name suggests – a sense of isolation.

It is undeniable that ‘Solitary Moods’ defies the conventions of conventional songwriting in favour of a truly unique sound. The smooth and relaxing transition of each section of the song complement each other wonderfully. It is evident that both musicians have drawn inspiration from a wide variety of sources – both contemporary and more traditional electronic music,  house, techno and much more.

ENGINE’s two members, Dominic Freeman and James Elson, have been writing music together for about 8 years, and over that time it’s become apparent they have found a unique sound that sets them apart from other bands and musicians in their lane.  This song looks set to feature on their new album, Aviary Bar and it leaves us eagerly awaiting what else ENGINE have in store.
