Singer-songwriter Catherine Burgis aka Test Card Girl has released her second single ‘If You’re Feeling Down’. The Manchester based songstress began writing in 2019, influenced by the city’s 90’s indie-pop scene.

‘If You’re Feeling Down’ is low-fi bedroom acoustic pop, with the simplistic sound of acoustic guitar leading to strong, charged piano melodies. The track allows us a few minutes of reflective calm, a look back on the turmoil of the past year.

‘Remember that you’re loved, and the love will never die’ - the lyrics which end the chorus, harmonised in a wonderfully, relatable northern accent, and is what makes the track so heartwarmingly true. A slight synth on the back of Catherine’s vocals adds a modern vibe to the indie folk gem, a real stand out element which highlights the unique quality of the artist.

With ‘If You’re Feeling Down’, Test Card Girl has proved she isn’t a one trick pony, and her venture into performance and songwriting is no doubt destined for success.
