Single Review: The Lathums – I Know That Much

Few, if any, bands have had such an impressive rise in 2019 as The Lathums.

The boys from Wigan only released their first official single ‘Crying Out’ back in May and have picked up an incredible amount of momentum since.

Their self-titled debut EP was very well received, they’ve cultivated a significant social media presence and they recently joined Gerry Cinnamon on his huge UK tour.

They are now closing out their phenomenal year with ‘I Know That Much’, their latest single and another major statement of intent.

The track immediately lures you in with a Marr-esque hypnotic soundscape, which is simultaneously urgent and dream-like.

Lead singer Alex Moore’s melancholic lyrics perfectly intertwine with the compelling instrumental, as the maturity of his messagereally elevate the track.

The ethereal quality of ‘I Know That Much’ effortlessly juxtaposes with Moore’s delivery, which is mostly restrained except for a few moments of elated defiance.

Their February 2020 tour is already sold-out, which is unsurprising given how in a few short months they have developed a rapidly growing fan-base.

‘I Know That Much’ crowns an exceptional 2019 for the Wigan band and we can’t wait to see where they take it in 2020.
