Single Review: Gallus - Marmalade

Scottish band Gallus, led by lead singer Barry Dolan, have released their third single of the year ‘Marmalade’, a hectic and impactful banger. The relentlessness and sense of vitality that comes through with this track indicate this is definitely a release intended for live performances, but still translates well to being blasted out of speakers.

Although you could argue that ‘Marmalade’ is one dimensional, it’s identity comes in being sonically an indie banger, while having an ear for a pop melody. The riffs are undoubtedly the star of the show and are reminiscent of some of the most popular tracks of the past fifty years. Like many emerging bands, Gallus may need more time to find a more unique sound and style, however their sheer talent and ability to harness an incredible energy are clear to see.
