Single Review: Maddy Storm - Surrealist Dinner Party

Maddy Storm’s new single ‘Surrealist Dinner Party’ follows on from her previous release ‘Dizzying Heights’ back in March - one of our favourite tracks of the year. Her latest track envelops you in a whirlwind of luscious melodies and elegant guitar licks. “Took some time to reflect” Storm teases within the opening few lines, which is an apt lyric within her clear and concise new approach to production and songwriting.

The prominence of this newly polished effervescence has been a “deliberate change”. This is instigated by the artist’s desire to oversee all elements of the songwriting and production process, from the first note on a piano, to the mixing and mastering. “I want every release to sound exactly as I hear it in my head” Storm said upon being asked about this change in direction.

This new glossy anthem brings together all of her talents into a captivating pop showpiece whilst still retaining an alternative bite. The juxtaposition of pop and alternative influences will engross all fans of music, with its depth of inspirations and professional execution. Having previously written with a focus on psych-rock, this new era of Maddy Storm is as striking as ever and leaves the listener eager for more.
