What happens when Prodigy meets Rammstein? The electro-rock band Sapien Trace. And what happens when frontman Mark Dickinson decides to go solo? MarqElectronica. His latest single ‘Bad Bones’ is a track that truly exemplifies what makes him such a uniquely visionary artist.

Coming from Newcastle, Marq is inclined to critique British politics, and he does just that in ‘Bad Bones’. The song features phrases like ‘Don’t make promises’, ‘Forget what you told us’, ‘Lie to the people, then look them straight in the eye’ and ‘You’re immune to the truth’.

Marq is well-known for his transgressiveness, presenting musical fusions between retro and electro sounds. ‘Bad Bones’ combines the traditional with the modern, as it takes the listener on a truly immersive trip, with big sonic amplitudes ranging between low vocals and high sound flashes. It is reminiscent of a soundtrack of an action thriller film or a video game. The bass of the drums fills the room and gives the song an even funkier vibe.

After years of writing and singing in a band, Marq says lockdown has given him the opportunity to focus on solo projects and collaborations with other artists. ‘Bad Bones’ comes after his other solo singles, including ‘Crazy Fool’, ‘In a City’, and ‘Get Down and Work It Out’. Fans of the northern electro music scene will be eager to hear more of what he has in store for them.
