‘Fireworks’ by Meadow Meadow is the indie-folk tune we needed. The instrumental arrangements, vocals, and sophisticated lyrics create a perfect sonic soundscape. Soaked in the ’90s indie-folk nostalgia, ‘Fireworks’ invites you to pause for a moment and let your memories flood back.

Meadow Meadow consists of Peter Darlington and James Green, both previously members of garage-rock band Spring King. As the first track to be released from their upcoming debut EP, ‘Fireworks’ captivates with a sublime, indie-folk melancholy mediated by vivid instrumental sections and gentle vocals. The meditative lyrics of the song are accompanied by deep, whispery vocals - which are reminiscent of Other Lives’ Tamer Animals and Elliott Smith’s Either/Or.

Combining serene piano tones with an occasional synth bass, the song’s soundscape retains an atmospheric austerity. The moderate guitar and piano sections create a perfect, minimalist arrangement that brings out the full depth of their voices. As it turns out, their subtle, intertwining voices fit perfectly into the inward-looking, soulful tone of the new project.

‘Fireworks’ feels candid and thoughtfully arranged. It builds a unique mood out of serene, dream-folk tunes and leaves just enough space for each layer of sound to fully reverberate. Combined with poetic lyrics, the track enables you to enter some truly intimate landscapes.
