Single Review: Shader - True to Life

Simple but effective. Shader’s new track ‘True to Life’ remains true to their performance centric style that will sound just as good live as it does in headphones. Simply put, it is a no nonsense indie smash.

The track’s defining feature is the separation between the sorrowful lyrics which talk about life and loss and the energetic electric guitar. It reflects the magnitude of the times by contrasting an infinite feeling of sadness with a sense of hope and progression. The track is neither dark nor light-hearted, it sits comfortably somewhere in the middle, a position that is tremendously difficult to achieve. Two seemingly unrelated aspects which work together in an unexpected way.

Shader are a promising band that have managed to create a space for themselves in the music landscape. With plans to release another new single this year, we are looking forward to seeing the band develop over subsequent releases.
