Single Review: The Juice - Tell Me Tina

Manchester-based band The Juice are back with their first release since expanding the group to become a five-piece, with new members Louis (lead guitar), Ross (bass) and Joe (drums) joining brothers Joe and Jack, who dropped two singles previously as a duo. While their previous releases led to deserved recognition from BBC Introducing Lancashire, the new track feels more ambitious and a real evolution of the sound they have been crafting since their debut single.

The song opens with a high-tempo bass riff, accompanied by crashing drums and vocals that truly capture a sense of nostalgia, longing and a heartfelt desire to be rescued from the day-to-day struggle. While the song calls out for rescue from a so-called Tina, in it’s essence, the track reflects the desire to be saved from a lifestyle that is wearing you down. Tina feels like their last chance, and is the embodiment of this hope.

This lyrical depth is polarised with a sense of hope and possibility; ‘the thing about an end is that it brings a new beginning’. With its earnest lyrics and upbeat melody, this song ignites that forgotten feeling of living without restriction.

The new track feels like a statement of intent from The Juice, with their sound already feeling energised by the addition of the three new band members. ‘Tell Me Tina’ is focused, energetic and doesn’t miss a step - a magnetic and rip-roaring indie smash.
