Single Review: Abnormal Sleepz - Running

One of Manchester’s hottest musical prospects, Abnormal Sleepz, is back with his latest single ‘Running’, and this time he’s brought fellow 0161 vocalist HMD along for the ride. 

Sleepz, real name Reece Samuels, has been honing his craft as one of contemporary hip hop’s freshest voices for years now, and his fantastic 2019 project Kaleidoscope put him at the forefront of the latest wave of new and emerging Manchester artists. Sleepz has even been as far as Ibiza when it comes to producing and DJing, showing his love and dedication to his craft.

As for ‘Running’, Sleepz provides an infectious summertime beat as the background to another laidback and silky-smooth vocal performance, and HMD’s guest verse adds some welcome soulful vibes to the track. For Sleepz, his latest outing is all about keeping positive: ‘’Running is all about coming out of the negative times and into the positive, it’s about that transition from the bus to the benzo and having that special person there alongside you to share it with.”

Despite already blessing us with a collection of bangers this year, Abnormal Sleepz’ ascent shows no signs of slowing down, as a further mixtape is on the way. If you’re a fan of hip-hop, or just great music in general, then Abnormal Sleepz should be on your radar.
