Single Review: Litany - Uh Huh

In contrast to her previous single, ‘Star Sign’, in which she spoke to the commitment phobe, Litany has flipped sides with new release ‘Uh-Huh’ now tackling the excitement and lust of a new relationship. Like all of us who have experienced the tantalising feeling of a new romance, Litany perfectly describes the complicated emotional rollercoaster specifically in the chorus ‘I'm not usually like this, perhaps I'm over excited. What the hell have you done to me? But don't stop it I like it, I like it, I like it’.

While the track has a simple concept with the repetition of ‘uh-huh’ in its chorus, as the guitar/bass combination takes priority it is definitely enough to stay in your head for days and is undoubtedly catchy and memorable. In a time when dancing in nightclubs is not possible and tik tok dancing in your living room is more the norm, Litany has created a track that makes you instinctively want to get moving, especially with the playful dance feature in the music video.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the single is how the production builds as it progresses, with the track slowly reaching its climax with a stacked combination of musical elements - reflecting the sexual lyricism that accompanies it. The track is accompanied by incredible visuals, featuring comedians Katherine Ryan and Joe Lycett, further highlighting Litany’s infectious artistry.

Litany has often tread a thin line between pop and indie - ‘Uh-Huh’ is undeniably pop with a classic indie undertone connecting with a new audience of indie pop lovers, but yet again she has excelled with another brilliant track to add to her repertoire and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
